The multipurpose hall at Kilcoy State High School, undertaken as part of the Department of Education’s School Halls Program, delivered a vital facility for the school and the community. The hall complements the Kilcoy streetscape and provides students and staff with an enclosed space for sports and assembly events. The hall includes a full-size basketball court, an assembly stage with dressing rooms and audiovisual capabilities for performances, additional teaching spaces, staffrooms, a front-of-house kiosk, storerooms, and amenities.
Positioned on the school’s lower oval, significant earthworks were required to elevate the site, avoiding overland flow paths and meeting the necessary floor level for building compliance. The project faced challenges due to civil and roadwork complexities, poor foundation conditions, and wet weather.
