Construction type: Schools & Educational Facilities
Project type: Construction
Region: Toowoomba

Bryant was entrusted by the Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba to construct several new structures at St Joseph’s College.

The primary objective of the project was to provide covered shelters for students arriving and departing the school and a new staff carpark.

The first of the structures was a bus shelter designed to house the school buses when not in use and provide a safe covered area for the students to access and wait for larger commercial school coaches on the adjacent street.

The second structure was a pick-up/drop-off shelter which was positioned within the internal ring road of the school, designed to enable safe and efficient management of student access, while also providing a covered area to ensure students are protected from direct weather exposure.

The third structure was a new concrete carpark with 48 spaces for staff cars. Illumination and security monitoring were integrated into this new carpark to ensure a safe and secure space was created.

There were some early challenges for the project team and stakeholders to overcome, ensuring the project minimised disruption to the school’s operations and neighbouring properties.

Appropriate planning and controls were implemented to guarantee key deliverables were achieved and the works had no significant impact to adjoining areas.
