Bryant’s construction projects also seek to enhance local capacity through employment, training and business opportunities.
Bryant has over 35 years’ experience in remote construction and delivery. We have successfully completed projects throughout the Gulf of Carpentaria, Cape York, the Torres Strait Islands, and Groote Eylandt (NT).
This experience has taught us that each Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community is different and often requires its own tailored approach. Each has its own diverse and exclusive culture requiring a ‘toolkit’ of methods and techniques designed to meet their changing needs.

GEOFFREY VILLALBA
Geoffrey is of Torres Strait Islander heritage and has around 40 years’ experience working for both the Australian and Queensland Governments.
As Bryant’s Indigenous Partnership Officer, it is Geoffrey’s responsibility to develop and nurture productive partnerships with Indigenous communities, businesses and various levels of government and to identify employment, training and business opportunities for our First Australians.
OUR APPROACH
Because of our extensive work in Indigenous communities, Bryant has deliberately structured and resourced itself to meet the needs and improve the participation of these communities in our projects by engaging Geoffrey as our Indigenous Partnerships Officer and developing an Indigenous Partnerships Strategy that identifies ways to create, support and foster networks with Indigenous communities, businesses, councils and Traditional Owners.
Bryant also has a Local Industry and an Indigenous Employment and Training Strategy. Both strategies seek effective and innovative ways to maximise employment, training and business opportunities for Indigenous communities while we work in partnership with them.
Bryant is also one of the few Australian construction companies with an Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (Innovate RAP).
We are also an active member of the Construction Industry Indigenous Participation Reference Group (CIIPRG), which is a Queensland Government/Industry body that seeks innovative ways to increase the participation of Indigenous job seekers and businesses in the construction industry. Bryant gives its time freely to the CIIPRG and shares its experience and learnings with other members in an effort to increase Indigenous participation in construction.
